His amazingly positive attitude, his incredible belief in himself and his courage to try his hardest no matter what made me think even more about another phenomenal person who always lived her life this way. A woman I was lucky enough to call my "2nd Mother", Patricia Rummer. Today is her birthday and today I want to celebrate and remember her in a way she deserves to be remembered and celebrated - as one of the greatest advocators of positivity, happiness and love!!! There's a poem that pops in my head whenever I think of this amazing woman, it's a poem written by Shel Silverstein called "Listen to the Mustn'ts" and it goes like this:
Listen to the mustn'ts child
Listen to the don'ts
Listen to the shouldn'ts
The impossibles, the wont's
Listen to the never haves
Then listen close to me...
Anything can happen child,
ANYTHING can be!!!
Mrs. Rummer was the type of person that never gave up, that listened to what people had to say but never let anyone persuade her to stop fighting for what she wanted or what she believed in and never cared about what anyone thought of her because she knew she was awesome and that's all that mattered!!! She was a beacon of light to so many and such a strong leader of hope! She was a fantastic mother who raised two amazing women, women that I'm lucky enough to not only call my best friends but that I also consider my sisters, she was an amazing wife who loved with all her heart and she was a friend that you could always rely on! I am so very grateful I got to know her and not only love her but be loved back by her!! So that's why tonight she is our Happy!
So, I want you all to take a lesson from Patricia Rummer and live your life to the fullest and do it with a big smile on your face! Stop worrying about what other people think! Stop letting negative remarks get you down! Never give up no matter how tough the situation may seem! When things get tough, do as Mrs. Rummer would and "just keep swimming"!!!
Until tomorrow, keep smiling and spreading that love!!
Peace, Love and Happiness!
Karen :)
